Intercity Direct is a digital release that celebrates a music culture centered around edits, mashups, cut-ups, and outright plunderphonics. The compilation is brought to you by Natiforme, a collective run by Derozan, Giaderza, Lulu, and Nèna operating between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. With 9 contributing artists hailing from both towns, the compilation connects the dots between the two cities in a split-second. From the up-tempo soca rhythms by Rozaly to the serene pop edit of Sane Again by Evelyn Palace, and back on an easy pace to Solomas' retake of the Tiësto classic Lethal Industry.

The release is more than a digital album. We aim to increase the communal value in our music scenes. Sharing fun, the fun of sharing, collaboration, and humor should be the standard. No purism, no snobbery. Just like NIZ’s cut on the local high-school anthem Schudden and april222.’s breezy track where pitched lyrics collide with trance-like snares. The playfulness continues with STYN’s kuduro version of Hudson Mohawke’s Cbat, a 2011-track that recently went viral on TikTok. Who’s ready for a viral meme remix?

Like the digital, the compilation is an open realm for the blending of genres and production styles. A connoisseur of genre-mixing, Noise Diva joins with a Middle Eastern bubbling track. New-York-based HMXGOD contributes with a dreamy riddim of Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek, making us reminisce the early 2000’s with the pulse of today’s club sound.

The Internet generates new ways of consuming and connecting with music. An equalizing factor in contemporary underground club and music culture is the accessibility of digital means for DJs and producers to express themselves. In this spirit we made this into a ‘pay-as-you-like’ release. Support when you can <3.
